Field visits of NTUA students in Schinias pilot (Greece)

The School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens organised two field visits in the Schinias pilot of SUBSOL, as it is currently operational. The site visits included:

  1. the water source (Makaria springs),
  2. the water supply installations that abstract and transfer water from Makaria through the Olympic Rowing Canal to the treatment unit,
  3. the water treatment unit, using a system of coupled Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) units,
  4. the reinjection configuration, consisting of a four wells system, three vertical and one horizontal.

The first visit that took place on Saturday the 20th of May was addressed to postgraduate students and about 20 students participated. The second visit that was conducted on Monday the 22nd of May was addressed to undergraduate students and about 10 students participated. The feedback was very positive and several students expressed their interest on conducting their thesis on various subjects of the pilot site.
